Why Amiga?

Well the Amiga now has a new owner, Gateway 2000 and they are now on sale again, so it's now time for me to put my salesman's cap on, and try to sell you one.

The Amiga's good points

My Workbench

The picture here is of my Workbench. You can see, amongst other things, Multiview showing a Jpeg image and IBrowse viewing my home page. To get the computer to do this is so simple! Who needs to mess around with tons of config files? PC owners thats who!
Notice how sharp the quality of the display is, esp. when compared to PC. (Bear in mind the image is a compressed Jpeg. On a real Amiga screen, the display is even sharper!)

What can the Amiga do?

So, how much do Amigas cost?

User Level Example Set Up Approx. Cost
Beginner (Games) A1200, 68020 CPU, 2MB Ram, 80MB HD £270
Beginner (Applications) A1200, 68020 CPU, 6MB Ram, 170MB HD £340
Intermediate A1200, 68020 CPU, 6MB Ram, 340MB HD, 2X CD-Rom £480
Semi-Pro A1200, 68030 CPU, 10Mb Ram, 720MB HD, 4X CD-Rom £640
Professional A1200T, 68040 CPU, 18MB Ram, 1GB HD, 8X CD-Rom £780
Top Of The Range :-) A4000T, 68060 CPU, 34MB Ram, 3.2GB HD, 16X Cd-Rom, Modem, GFX Card, Sound Card £2000

So as you can see, there is an Amiga to fit your needs (and pocket). My Amiga is of similar spec to the semi pro set up, above, and is a worthwhile competitor to any £1500 PC!

Advantages over PC/MAC

So where can I buy one?

This is a selection of shops that stock Amigas.

Note - Weird Science come recommended for their prompt service, and good after sales support.

Well I hope I've given you an insight into the Amiga. I may update this page as and when I see fit.

AND REMEMBER, INTEL OUTSIDE!
